Trysh M. “The best way I can repay Tariro for what it has done for me is by doing well in my school work.”
Trysh was 13 when she enrolled in Form 1 studies at Glen View 1 High School with the financial support of Tariro. Trysh lost her parents at a very young age and was left in the custody of her grandmother, who unfortunately passed on just one month before she joined the Tariro program. Trysh now lives with her sister, who is unemployed.
Trysh is one of Tariro’s first students living positively with HIV. Trysh is on anti-retroviral treatment. She has not allowed her status to get the better of her and is openly comfortable talking about her HIV status. Trysh has been doing exceptionally well in her studies; she got 1st class grades in the four Grade 7 examinations and is ranked at the top of all the Form 1 classes combined.
Trysh was recommended to Tariro by her current school head after the head noticed she was having challenges paying her school fees. Tariro ensures Trysh is able to stay in school by paying her school fees and making sure that she has all the essentials for attending school, including stationery and a school uniform. We also regularly visit her home to check on how she and her family are doing.
Trysh is very kind and easygoing. She’s a creative child who likes singing and reading novels and hopes to pursue a career in the medical field.
