Tilda M. “By paying for my school fees and ensuring I do not miss a day of school, Tariro is helping me realize my dreaming of becoming a medical doctor. I will be forever grateful for the support Tariro has given me over the years.”
Tilda lives with her mother, sister, and three aunts in a one-roomed house in the high-density suburb of Glen Norah. Her mother is struggling to make ends meet as she is a street vendor and sometimes runs out of money for restocking.
Tilda is now doing her lower sixth studies (Form 5) at Girls High School after failing to secure a placement to do science subjects at a more local school. Tilda joined Tariro when she was doing Grade 7 at Chembira Primary school after she was referred by one of her teachers. Tilda’s performance in school was negatively affected due to her mother’s deteriorating health and because she was missing school for failure to pay school fees. Her situation then changed for the better due to the support she was getting from Tariro.
Tilda is exceptionally good in school. She obtained three As, six Bs, and one C in her O-Levels and continues to thrive at Advanced Level. She is a part of the music and dance ensemble and takes part in all the activities. The music instructor says that Tilda is one of the best performers in the ensemble.
Tilda looks forward to finishing her Advanced Level studies and to studying civil engineering at the University of Zimbabwe. Her family is grateful for the support they are getting from Tariro.
